Palace Denies Reports That President Marcos Underwent Surgery

Malacañang Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro has categorically denied reports that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. underwent surgery related to his recently disclosed diverticulitis.

In a press briefing on Monday, January 26, 2026, Castro clarified that while the President addressed reporters during the event, claims that he had been operated on were false. “These reports are fake news,” she emphasized, noting that the President is in good condition according to official medical updates.

President Marcos himself had earlier confirmed last week that he was diagnosed with diverticulitis, a gastrointestinal condition often linked to stress and age. Medical authorities have reiterated that the condition is manageable and did not require surgical intervention at this time.

The Palace statement aims to dispel widespread rumors circulating in social and mainstream media, which caused public concern over the President’s health.
