Vice President Sara Duterte revealed that a foreign country has agreed to host former President Rodrigo Duterte for interim release, though she withheld its name.

Speaking before overseas Filipino workers in Nagoya, Japan, on September 21, Duterte said the search took time as few nations were willing to accept her father, who is facing proceedings before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

She added that the arrangement was made possible through her contacts abroad, citing her work in the Department of Education and the OVP.

The ICC recently postponed Duterte’s confirmation of charges after his lawyer requested a medical examination, citing his poor health. VP Sara appealed for compassion, stressing that her 80-year-old father is “sick” and should be treated humanely.
