The Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur has extended relief assistance to communities affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Cebu.

A convoy carrying humanitarian aid left the province, bringing 2,000 sacks of rice (25 kilos each), 500 kilos of dried fish, and a water tanker to help supply potable water to devastated areas.

Governor Divina Grace Yu expressed solidarity with the people of Cebu, emphasizing the province’s commitment to stand with them in this time of crisis.

“This is our way of showing that Zamboanga del Sur shares in the grief and challenges faced by the people of Cebu after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake,” Yu said.

The relief mission was led by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Head Atty. Antonio Olaguera and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Head Moshe Briones, together with their personnel, who personally oversaw the delivery and turnover of the aid to Cebu’s local authorities.

This initiative reflects the spirit of unity and bayanihan, as Zamboanga del Sur stands with the earthquake survivors of Cebu in their path to recovery.
