Vincenzo Sagun, Zamboanga del Sur — The Public Information Officer (PIO) of Zamboanga del Sur was shot and killed by his own security escort during a heated altercation on the evening of Sunday, June 9, 2025.

The fatal shooting occurred at around 11:55 PM at RM Beach Resorts’ function hall in Purok Puting Balas, Barangay Ambulon, Vincenzo Sagun.

The victim, identified as Jesreel Himang, was reportedly drinking with the suspect, Reymond Antifuelo Lopecillo his personal escort prior to the incident. According to initial police investigation, both men had consumed alcoholic beverages which eventually led to a heated argument.

During the confrontation, Lopecillo allegedly drew a .45 caliber pistol and fired multiple shots at Himang. The victim sustained four gunshot wounds one to the nose, two to the abdomen, and one to the right arm resulting in his immediate death.

Another individual, identified as Celquen Mae Arellano, was also wounded during the shooting. Arellano was struck twice in the hip area and is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries.

Personnel from the Vincenzo Sagun Municipal Police Station quickly responded to the scene and rushed the victims to Margosatubig Regional Hospital for emergency medical assistance.

The suspect is now in police custody.

Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Director, Police Colonel Bonifacio B. Arañas Jr., condemned the incident and expressed deep concern over the violence that occurred within the province’s ranks.

He also commended the swift response of the Vincenzo Sagun police officers, which led to the immediate arrest of the suspect.

Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
