ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, Philippines — The provincial government of Zamboanga del Sur has taken a significant step toward international collaboration following its initial meeting with officials from Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, for a proposed Provincial Sisterhood partnership.

Governor Divina Grace Yu described the initiative as a major milestone in expanding the province’s global engagement and opening new opportunities for its constituents through strengthened international ties.

According to Yu, discussions during the meeting focused on several key areas of cooperation, including exchange visits and the sharing of professional, agricultural, and technical expertise. Both parties also explored potential collaborations in music and cultural development, aimed at fostering mutual understanding and cultural exchange.

In addition, opportunities in business development, employment generation, and scholarship programs were identified as priority areas to support inclusive economic growth and long-term development.

The proposed sisterhood agreement is expected to position Zamboanga del Sur as an emerging hub for global partnerships, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation.

Local officials expressed optimism that the partnership will bring tangible benefits to communities, particularly in enhancing skills development, boosting investments, and creating more opportunities for the people of the province.
