Tribal Leader and Political Aide shot dead in bayog Zamboanga del Sur

BAYOG, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR – A tribal leader and political coordinator of Mayor Celso Matias was gunned down in an ambush by unidentified assailants in Barangay Bubuan on Sunday, May 5, 2025.

The victim, identified as Naciso Cuang, sustained multiple gunshot wounds in various parts of his body. Responding authorities confirmed that he died on the spot due to the severity of his injuries.

According to initial reports, Cuang was traveling in the area when he was suddenly attacked by armed individuals. The motive behind the ambush remains unclear.

The Bayog Municipal Police Station is now conducting an in-depth investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the killing.
