Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III confirmed that senators convened in a caucus today to discuss adjustments in the chamber following the recent change in leadership.

Sotto said one of his priorities is to restore the weekly caucus every Monday before plenary sessions to strengthen coordination among members.

The caucus also covered committee chairmanships. According to Sotto, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian is expected to retain his post as chair of the Senate Finance Committee, noting his support during the transition.

For the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, Sotto revealed that Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson is being considered as a candidate.

The senators also deliberated on who will take the position of Senate Minority Leader. Sotto disclosed that former Senate President Chiz Escudero has declined interest in the role.

Earlier in the plenary, Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Joel Villanueva expressed openness to joining the minority bloc.
