Senator Cayetano Hails “Konektadong Pinoy Act” as Game Changer for Digital Access in the Philippines

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano welcomed the passage of the Konektadong Pinoy Act, describing it as a historic milestone in ensuring reliable, affordable, and accessible internet for all Filipinos.

According to Cayetano, the measure is a “game changer” for digital inclusion, particularly benefiting millions of Filipinos, including Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

The law seeks to bring government services closer to the people by promoting faster and more affordable internet connectivity across the country.

It also aims to encourage the entry of new internet service providers (ISPs) to foster competition, drive down subscription costs, and improve service quality.

In addition, the legislation sets minimum standards for internet service delivery to safeguard consumer rights.

The Act prioritizes the installation of digital infrastructure in areas near schools and mandates appropriate discounts for students enrolled in both public and private institutions.
