Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur — A 39-year-old public school teacher was arrested on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, after allegedly threatening a school district supervisor and violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591).

The suspect, identified by police as Junald, reportedly stormed into the office of Public School District Supervisor Ambert at the Josefina Central Elementary School around 6:10 PM, initiating a heated confrontation. Witnesses said the teacher opened his sling bag and revealed what appeared to be a pistol and a hand grenade, causing panic among school staff and forcing them to flee the scene.

Authorities responded swiftly and intercepted the suspect while he was attempting to escape on a motorcycle. Upon inspection, police discovered a toy pistol loaded with two live .45 caliber rounds and a plastic replica of a hand grenade inside his bag.

Initial investigation revealed that the teacher was allegedly enraged over the delayed release of his salary, which had reportedly been unpaid for three months. He blamed the school supervisor for the delay, leading to the confrontation.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Josefina Municipal Police Station (MPS) as legal charges are being prepared against him.

The case is being handled by the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office under the supervision of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9).
