MANILA, Philippines — Access to legal help in the Philippines is about to become faster and easier. The Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) announced its upcoming integration with the eGov PH Super App, offering real-time legal advice and consultation at the touch of a button.

PAO Chief Atty. Persida Rueda-Acosta revealed on Thursday that the agency is set to deploy a dedicated team of lawyers through the government’s digital platform. “We will assign at least two lawyers and two staff to manage the app-based consultations. It will be like our hotline services, only now available digitally,” Acosta said in an interview with PTV.

This new feature will allow Filipinos to receive instant legal counseling without the need to present any documentation or proof of indigency ideal for those simply seeking advice or initial guidance. For legal representation in court or assistance with drafting legal documents, requirements will still apply.

The move comes as part of the government’s broader push to make essential services more accessible through the eGov PH Super App, a centralized platform designed to simplify public transactions.

No Barriers to Legal Help

Acosta emphasized that this digital shift will especially benefit those in remote or underserved areas, removing barriers like transportation costs and long wait times. “You don’t need to travel to our office. You don’t even need to prove anything at first. If you have a legal concern, we will listen,” she explained.

To support this initiative, PAO is preparing to hire at least 87 new lawyers to meet the expected increase in demand and to address the current shortage of public attorneys.

Face-to-Face Consultations Still Available

For those who prefer in-person legal help, the PAO will also be present at the newly launched Presidential Action Center (PACe) in San Juan City. Appointments for these consultations must be scheduled through the eGov app. Priority will be given to persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, and pregnant women.

Assistant Secretary Wheng Hidalgo of the Presidential Communications Office encouraged the public to take full advantage of the digital platform. “You can file complaints, seek legal advice, or simply inquire. The appointment system ensures that your concerns are heard and properly addressed,” Hidalgo said.

A Legal Lifeline for Every Filipino

The upcoming launch represents a significant step toward digital justice and inclusive governance. By bridging the gap between ordinary citizens and the legal system, PAO hopes to empower more Filipinos to know and exercise their rights without cost, delay, or discrimination.
