Zamboanga Peninsula — The Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) reported significant strides in its campaign against loose firearms and illegal drugs, recovering a total of 151 unregistered firearms and confiscating nearly ₱4 million worth of suspected shabu during its intensified operations in June 2025.

Under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Roel C. Rodolfo, PRO-9 carried out a series of law enforcement efforts from June 1 to 30, including checkpoint operations, implementation of search warrants, and voluntary surrender programs. These led to the recovery of 151 loose firearms across various areas in the region.

The operations form part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) broader mission to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms, reduce gun-related violence, and enhance public safety.

In parallel with the campaign against illegal weapons, PRO-9 also intensified its anti-drug efforts. Throughout the month of June, police units confiscated a total of 650.86 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱3,923,647.20. The seizures were made through intelligence-driven operations, including buy-busts and search warrant enforcements in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay.

“These accomplishments are the result of focused and sustained police operations, strengthened by inter-agency coordination and the unwavering support of the community,” said PBGen Rodolfo. “We remain steadfast in our mandate to enforce the law, protect the public, and dismantle criminal networks operating within our jurisdiction.”

PBGen Rodolfo also reaffirmed the directives of PNP Chief, Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, emphasizing that the end of the election gun ban marks not a conclusion but a transition toward continued law enforcement initiatives.

As the region moves forward, PRO-9 vows to maintain its momentum in ensuring peace and security across the Zamboanga Peninsula through consistent and proactive policing.
