President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr on Wednesday conveyed his condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the 69 magnitude earthquake that struck Bogo City Cebu on September 30 In his statement the President said his prayers are with the victims including those injured and displaced by the tremor and assured the public that the government is moving quickly to provide aid and assistance

Cabinet officials have been dispatched to northern Cebu to assess the damage and oversee relief operations The President emphasized that national agencies are working together to respond to the disaster The Department of Public Works and Highways has inspected major roads and bridges to ensure safe passage while the Department of Energy is implementing measures to restore power supply, The Department of Health has deployed additional medical personnel to hospitals and the Department of Social Welfare and Development is distributing food packs and essential relief goods, The Bureau of Fire Protection is conducting search and rescue operations while the Philippine National Police is maintaining order and extending support to ongoing emergency response.

The Office of Civil Defense and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council are leading the overall coordination to ensure efficient and timely government action President Marcos urged residents to remain vigilant and follow advisories from their local governments as relief and recovery efforts continue in the affected areas
