President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the reinstatement of Capt. Jerome Jacuba an Army officer who lost his sight during an anti-terrorism operation in Mindanao after his heartfelt farewell message on social media gained widespread public attention.

Rather than allowing his Complete Disability Discharge (CDD) to push through, the President instructed Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. to suspend the discharge, promote Jacuba to the rank of major, and designate him to “major adaptive duties” that will make full use of his 15 years of military service, professional expertise, and unwavering dedication to the country.

Emphasizing the nation’s obligation to honor and support wounded warriors, Marcos underscored that soldiers who sacrificed in the line of duty must never be abandoned.

“Even after losing his sight, there remain many meaningful duties he can fulfill… He still has much to contribute to our country,” the President said, paying tribute to Jacuba’s unyielding commitment to the nation.

Major Jacuba’s reinstatement stands as a testament to the government’s recognition of heroism and its continuing support for the men and women of the Armed Forces who have risked and in some cases, given so much in service to the Filipino people.
