ZAMBOANGA CITY — Authorities seized more than ₱455 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested two suspects in a major anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Bunagiao, Zone 1, this city on Tuesday evening, August 19, 2025.

The operation, conducted around 8:30 p.m., was carried out by joint operatives of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU), Zamboanga City Police Station 3 (ZCPS3), Western Mindanao Command (WMNC), Naval Intelligence and Security Group Naval Special Operations Unit (NISG-NAVSOU), 902nd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9 (RMFB9), Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit 9 (PDEG-SOU9), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Zamboanga City Office (PDEA-ZCO), and the Lamitan City Police Station under BARMM.

Seized during the operation were sixty-seven (67) vacuum-sealed plastic packs containing white crystalline substances believed to be shabu, with a total estimated weight of 67 kilograms and a market value of ₱455.6 million. Other non-drug evidence was also recovered.

The confiscated items have been turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 9 for laboratory examination. Meanwhile, the arrested suspects are being held at the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) for documentation and filing of appropriate charges.

Authorities hailed the success of the operation as a significant blow to the illegal drug trade in the region.
