Police Officer Found Dead in Alleged Suicide at Ramon Magsaysay Police Station

A police officer was found dead in an alleged suicide inside the Operations Section office of the Ramon Magsaysay Municipal Police Station on the morning of December 31, 2025, authorities said.

The victim was identified as Police Corporal Jessie Vergas Arcoy, 36, Assistant Operations PNCO and a resident of Pagadian City.

Police discovered the incident at around 10:40 a.m. after colleagues failed to get a response from Arcoy. Officers forced open his locked room on the second floor of the station and found him lifeless with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. A 9mm service firearm issued to the victim was recovered at the scene.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) processed the area at around 10:51 a.m. The attending physician reported that the gunshot wound entered through the mouth and exited at the back of the head, with the estimated time of death between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., explaining why no gunshot was heard.

Initial investigation revealed that Arcoy had earlier expressed concern over incomplete work requirements, which were reportedly resolved the same day. Authorities also noted that he had a history of depression. The motive remains undetermined.

Police have coordinated with the victim’s family, while further investigation continues pending the SOCO report and medical records.
