The Philippine National Police (PNP) will mobilize more than 50,000 personnel to secure the September 21 rallies in Metro Manila, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced Tuesday.

In an interview with ANC’s Headstart, Remulla said 50,335 officers will be assigned to ensure order and safety, with duties ranging from police visibility and crowd control to traffic management, checkpoints, and border security.

“The PNP will make sure there is no trouble. They will not suppress nor stop the protesters. We only want a peaceful rally,” Remulla said.

Thousands are expected to gather in EDSA and Luneta on Sunday to protest alleged corruption in flood control projects. The DILG chief stressed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. supports the people’s right to protest, provided organizers secure the necessary permits.

“There is no opposition from Malacañang to granting permits. In fact, the Palace will assist them,” Remulla noted.

He further encouraged demonstrators to hold officials accountable through non-violent means. “I hope half a million people show up to express indignation. Let the anger be released, but in a very peaceful way,” he said.
