Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), in coordination with the Jolo Municipal Police Station and the Sulu Provincial Police Office, apprehended a 37-year-old drug suspect during a buy-bust operation along Serantes Street in Barangay Chinese Pier, the capital town of Sulu.

The suspect, identified as Abdul Munim Burani Akmad, was caught in the act of selling a kilo of shabu and did not resist arrest, according to PDEA-BARMM Director Gil Cesario Castro.

Castro confirmed in a media statement on Tuesday that Akmad is currently detained and will be facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation was part of intensified anti-drug efforts led by PDEA-BARMM in collaboration with the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Romeo Juan Macapaz.
