PDEA Conducts Largest Drug Destruction in Region 9 Worth ₱1.1 Billion

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 9 carried out the destruction of approximately ₱1.1 billion worth of illegal drugs in what has been recorded as the region’s largest drug burning operation to date.

According to PDEA-9, the ceremonial burning marks the most extensive disposal of illegal drugs ever conducted in the region.

The event was led by Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Chairman Secretary Oscar Valenzuela, along with key officials from PDEA and other government agencies.

Based on agency data, the destroyed contraband included 67 kilograms and 89 kilograms of shabu seized in two separate major anti-drug operations, following a court-issued order for disposal.

Authorities said the successful destruction of the confiscated drugs stands as a strong testament to the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the illegal drug menace in the country.
