Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday, August 1, personally visited Camul Elementary School in Tampilisan to oversee the official turnover of ICT equipment powered by Starlink satellite technology, as part of the government’s initiative to bridge the digital divide in far-flung communities.

During his visit, President Marcos conducted an inspection of the school’s internet connectivity and witnessed a real-time demonstration of its speed and reliability. The initiative is part of the administration’s broader commitment to enhancing digital access in rural areas, particularly in public schools with limited or no internet connection.

Joining the event virtually were students and teachers from four other beneficiary schools in the province Marupay National High School in Manuel A. Roxas, Nato Integrated School in Sindangan, Seroan Integrated School in Katipunan, and Tinago Elementary School in Sergio Osmeña. These schools also recently received Starlink satellite internet as part of the program.

In a brief message, President Marcos reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to providing equal opportunities in education through digital infrastructure. He emphasized that access to reliable internet is no longer a luxury but a necessity, especially in the post-pandemic learning landscape.

“We are making sure that every Filipino learner, no matter how remote their location, has access to the tools and resources needed to succeed in this digital age,” the President stated.

Educators and school administrators expressed their gratitude for the new equipment, noting that internet connectivity has significantly improved classroom instruction, research access, and inter-school collaboration.

This connectivity project forms part of the Marcos administration’s nationwide digital transformation agenda, aimed at fostering inclusivity and technological advancement across all sectors beginning with education.
