More than 2,000 farmers across several regions have been affected by the onslaught of Tropical Storm Verbena and the prevailing shearline, the Department of Agriculture (DA) reported on Monday.

Based on the agency’s latest field assessment, around 3,205 hectares of farmland were damaged, with an estimated 165 metric tons of various agricultural products destroyed. The DA placed the initial value of agricultural losses at ₱57.53 million.

The impact spans major commodities, including palay, corn, high-value crops, livestock, and poultry, as well as farm machinery and production equipment.

The regions of MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas bore the brunt of the severe weather, recording extensive crop losses and disruptions in farm operations.

The DA cautioned that the total damage figures may further increase as validation and on-ground assessments continue in affected areas.
