The Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur successfully held the Farmer’s Field School (FFS) Graduation and Field Day Harvest Festival for hybrid corn production at the Provincial Government Technology Demonstration Farm in Tickwas, Dumalinao, on Wednesday, August 13.

The event showcased the results of the study on the Field Performance of Hybrid Corn Using Different Planting Distances, highlighting innovations and best practices in corn farming. It also served as a platform for farmers to gain scientific and technological knowledge aimed at improving yields and increasing income.

More than 1,000 farmers from various municipalities across Zamboanga del Sur participated in the festival, along with local officials including Dumalinao Mayor Raul Famor, ONE COOP Partylist Representative Atty. Maria Kristina Glepa, and Provincial Agriculturist Dante Lao-ay.

The activity was organized in partnership with research collaborators from the Department of Agriculture RFO IX, Vigour Seeds Development Inc., ALDIZ Incorporated, and ATLAS Fertilizers Inc. The initiative reflects the province’s strong commitment to boosting agricultural productivity and supporting farmers through science-based and technology-driven farming approaches.
