ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA — In a span of 24 hours on June 26, 2025, law enforcement units under the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office (ZSBPPO) successfully apprehended four wanted individuals in a series of intensified police operations conducted across the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Norte.

The operations were spearheaded by ZSBPPO Provincial Director Police Colonel Barnard Danie V. Dasugo, in coordination with multiple municipal police stations and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU). Participating units included the Tungawan Municipal Police Station (MPS), Ipil MPS, Salug MPS, and Malangas MPS.

In Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, operatives arrested a 55-year-old male suspect for violation of Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. The arrest was executed by virtue of a warrant issued by the MCTC Ipil-Tungawan-R.T. Lim, with bail recommended at ₱76,000.00.

In Salug, Zamboanga del Norte, a 19-year-old male was taken into custody for Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Damage to Property (Article 365 of the Revised Penal Code) under Criminal Case No. 5475-I (2025). The arrest was made through the joint efforts of Ipil and Salug MPS operatives. The court set the bail at ₱30,000.00.

Meanwhile, in Malangas, a 21-year-old male suspect was arrested for violation of Section 41(d) of RA 10863 under Criminal Case No. 4517-M. The warrant, issued by MCTC Branch 36, Imelda, carried a bail recommendation of ₱120,000.00. The arrest was facilitated by the Malangas MPS and PIU-ZSBPPO.

In a related operation in Looc Tuburan, Malangas, a 32-year-old male was apprehended for the same offense and case number. The arrest was made by the PIU-ZSBPPO Tracker Team and Malangas MPS.

All apprehended individuals were read their constitutional rights and subsequently brought to their respective police stations for booking procedures and the filing of appropriate charges.

In a statement, PCOL Dasugo emphasized the importance of these results in demonstrating the Philippine National Police’s unwavering commitment to public safety.

“These back-to-back arrests in a single day exemplify our commitment to delivering swift and responsive police service. The professionalism of our personnel and the seamless coordination among units reflect our dedication to accountability and transparency,” Dasugo said.

He further reiterated that the ZSBPPO, in partnership with municipal police forces, remains steadfast in enforcing the law and safeguarding communities throughout the Zamboanga Peninsula.
