BANGKOK — Team Philippines capped its athletics campaign on a high note as EJ Obiena and Elijah Kevin Cole clinched gold and bronze, respectively, in the men’s pole vault event at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on Tuesday.

World-class vaulter Obiena lived up to expectations, clearing the winning height to secure the gold medal and reaffirm his status as the region’s premier pole vaulter. His victory added another major international achievement to his growing list of accolades and provided a crucial boost to the country’s medal haul.

Meanwhile, fellow Filipino Elijah Kevin Cole delivered a strong and composed performance to claim the bronze medal, marking a significant milestone in his SEA Games debut. Cole’s podium finish highlighted the growing depth of Philippine pole vaulting and underscored the effectiveness of the country’s athlete development program.
