The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has been placed on full alert starting today to secure tomorrow’s large-scale anti-corruption protest, set for September 21.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that over 50,000 officers will be deployed nationwide following the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The deployment will be carried out in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other government agencies.

With the alert status in effect, all police leaves have been canceled, and the NCRPO will field its full force. Other Police Regional Offices and the Reactionary Standby Support Force have also been placed on standby for immediate response.

PNP Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the measure is meant to safeguard both demonstrators and the general public. He also called on protest organizers to work closely with authorities and abide by existing laws.

Massive crowds are expected to converge at Luneta Park in Manila and the People Power Monument in Quezon City to demand action against corruption. The PNP assured that it will protect the people’s right to peaceful assembly while maintaining order and security.
