Marcos Accepts Bonoan’s Resignation, Appoints Vince Dizon as New DPWH Chief

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially accepted the resignation of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan, paving the way for a leadership change in one of the country’s most crucial agencies.

In a statement released Sunday, Malacañang confirmed that Marcos has designated Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon as Bonoan’s successor. Dizon is set to take his oath of office before the President on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Malacañang Palace.

Bonoan’s resignation comes amid mounting pressure and calls for accountability over various public works issues. Although he previously insisted he would not step down, sources confirmed that he formally tendered his resignation last week, which the President has now accepted.

Dizon, who has been serving as DOTr Secretary, is widely known for his role as former presidential adviser on flagship infrastructure projects. His transfer to DPWH signals a major infrastructure shake-up under the Marcos administration, which is expected to accelerate the government’s big-ticket construction and road development programs.

The Palace has yet to announce who will succeed Dizon at the DOTr.
