DUMINGAG, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has officially suspended the license of a Rural Transit Mindanao Inc. (RTMI) bus driver involved in a road accident that occurred Thursday morning in Purok 4, Barangay Mahayahay, Dumingag town.

The move is part of the government’s continuing efforts to uphold public safety and order in the transportation sector, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure the protection of commuters nationwide.

The LTO, in coordination with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), has also summoned the manager and owner of Rural Transit to explain the incident and to review the company’s operational compliance and safety protocols.

Authorities have yet to disclose the full details of the accident, including the condition of the passengers and the exact cause of the crash, pending the results of an official investigation.

The suspension underscores the Marcos administration’s push for stricter accountability among public transport operators amid rising concerns over road safety and the welfare of the riding public.
