Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur — A 33-year-old municipal employee of LGU Guipos was shot and killed in broad daylight by riding-in-tandem assailants in Barangay Sebucao on Monday morning, June 24.

The victim, identified as Reymark a resident of Poblacion, Guipos, was on his way home aboard a black Suzuki Burgman motorcycle when two unidentified suspects on a Yamaha MIO motorcycle opened fire at him around 7:20 a.m. along Purok Luy-a.

According to initial findings by the Dumalinao Municipal Police Station, the assailants reportedly tailed the victim from Barangay Camalig. The back rider, clad in a black hoodie and pants, used a caliber .45 pistol to shoot the victim multiple times, striking him in the back and left arm.

The suspects quickly fled in the direction of Barangay Camanga. Emergency responders immediately rushed Reymark to Jamillarin Hospital in Pagadian City. However, attending physicians declared him dead on arrival.

The victim sustained three gunshot wounds to the back and one to the arm, police said. Law enforcement authorities have since launched hot pursuit operations and are backtracking CCTV footage from surrounding barangays and the victim’s residence in an effort to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

Police are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Dumalinao Police Station or call the emergency hotline at 911.

As of this writing, the motive behind the killing remains unclear. Authorities continue to gather evidence and interview possible witnesses to establish the circumstances leading to the fatal ambush.
