MANILA — Multiple sources from the House of Representatives have confirmed that Isabela 6th District Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy III is expected to be elected as the new Speaker of the House on Wednesday, September 17.

According to insiders, outgoing Speaker Martin Romualdez met with key party leaders earlier this week to affirm his decision to step down and ensure a smooth transition in the chamber’s leadership.

Ahead of the anticipated vote, lawmakers are scheduled to hold a meeting with Rep. Dy on Wednesday morning before the start of the plenary session.

Meanwhile, the ruling party Lakas-CMD will convene at 2:00 p.m. on the same day, where Romualdez is expected to formally announce his resignation as Speaker.

If confirmed, Dy’s election will mark a significant shift in the House leadership, with expectations that he will outline his legislative priorities shortly after assuming the post.
