Greece snapped a 23-year wait for a World Championship win by beating Puerto Rico in four sets on Sunday in Chiang Mai.

The southern Europeans ceded only the second set as Anthouli powered the attack to seal the landmark result.

The 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championship runs from August 22 to September 7 across four Thai cities—Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Nakhon Ratchasima—with full schedules and results posted by Volleyball World and the IOC.

Anthouli delivered a match-high 27 points to headline Greece’s offense. 
Greece earned the 3–1 decision in Pool C to open breathing room in the group phase.
