From Kape-Kape to Creative Waves: The Story Behind Musika Lokal OBM

When it comes to championing homegrown music, Musika Lokal OBM is one of those platforms that truly walks the talk no gimmicks, just genuine love for local artistry.

It all started back in 2020, during the early pandemic days, when Oro Broadcast Media decided to revamp their old segment Concierto Lokal. From there, Alfie and Chay came in with a fresh idea: blend artist interviews with stripped-down acoustic performances. And so, Musika Lokal was born simple, raw, and very local.

But like any great tune, the platform evolved. What started as one segment branched out into more creative spaces. They launched the Musika Lokal podcast and introduced Song x Writer, a segment where artists go deep into the stories behind their songs what inspired them, how they wrote it, and the emotions tied to each line.

They didn’t stop there. Other mini-series like Behind the Tracks, What’s on Your Playlist, and consistent artist spotlights gave a wider space for indie and local musicians not just from CDO, but across the regions to be seen and heard.

Their core mantra hasn’t changed:
“No boundaries. From the lokals, for the lokals.”

Alfie once shared in a coffee catch-up session:
“Goal natuh dili lang sa CDO... atuh lang ani is help them in our own little way…”
“Our goal isn't just CDO… we just want to help, even in our own small way.”

And true enough, despite both of them juggling day jobs, Alfie and Chay continue to keep the fire burning for Musika Lokal. Whether it’s producing content, discovering new talents, or keeping the spirit of local music alivethey’re doing it, one feature at a time.
