DOST-Zamboanga del Sur Grants ₱1.78 Million SETUP Fund to Melania Corn Farm

Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology in Zamboanga del Sur (DOST-ZDS) has awarded a total of ₱1.78 million under its Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) to Melania Corn Farm, a micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) engaged in yellow corn production.

Through the funding support, Melania Corn Farm is set to acquire a combine harvester with a corn kit, which is expected to significantly reduce post-harvest losses, streamline harvesting operations, increase overall productivity, and improve product quality. The investment is also projected to strengthen the farm’s competitiveness in the market.

The initiative highlights DOST’s continuing commitment to empower MSMEs and the agricultural sector by harnessing science, technology, and innovation to drive growth and sustainability.
