MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that no Filipinos were among those killed in a tourist bus crash that occurred in New York, USA.

According to the DFA, the New York State Police have already identified all the passengers of the ill-fated chartered bus and informed their respective families. None of the fatalities were Filipinos.

Authorities reported that five people were killed, while at least 49 others sustained injuries when the bus overturned along the New York State Thruway near Pembroke, about 30 miles east of Buffalo. Most of the injured passengers have since been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment for minor injuries, while those who sustained more serious wounds are expected to recover.

The DFA also noted that no individuals have approached the Philippine Consulate in New York to request assistance related to the incident.

The Philippine Consulate assured that its Assistance-to-Nationals hotline remains open to provide support to Filipinos in need, and it continues to closely monitor the situation.
