The Department of Education (DepEd), led by Secretary Sonny Angara, has officially launched the EdukAhon program alongside the inauguration of a new Alternative Learning System–Community Learning Center (ALS-CLC) at Tabaco National High School in Tabaco City, Albay.

Secretary Angara described EdukAhon as “a box of hope and knowledge,” symbolizing the importance of continuing education despite life’s challenges and hardships.

“The EdukAhon is a reminder that learning must not stop even in times of crisis or disaster,” Angara emphasized during the event.

The new ALS-CLC in Tabaco City is part of DepEd’s broader initiative to expand access to inclusive education, particularly for out-of-school youth and adults seeking to complete their studies. The center is expected to serve as a safe space for learners to pursue their academic and personal development goals.

This move is in line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen educational continuity amid calamities while ensuring that inclusive education remains a national priority.

DepEd officials highlighted that both EdukAhon and the new learning facility reflect the agency’s ongoing commitment to resilience in education bringing hope, opportunity, and empowerment to Filipino learners nationwide.
