DOT is monitoring quake-hit areas in Davao Region as several tourist sites and activities are temporarily suspended for safety.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is monitoring areas in Davao Region affected by the recent strong earthquake in Mindanao.

Seven tourism sites and accommodations were reported affected six in Baganga, Davao Oriental, and one in Samal Island now under assessment.

No tourist injuries were reported, but 349 tourism workers were impacted and endorsed to the DSWD for assistance.

As a safety measure, activities such as hikes to Mt. Apo and visits to Aliwagwag Falls, Cape San Agustin, and other attractions have been suspended.

The DOT vowed continued coordination with local and national agencies to aid affected workers and resume operations once safe.
