Tagaytay City, Philippines — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region IX, under the leadership of Fire Chief Superintendent Jerry D. Candido, DSC, has been awarded the prestigious title of “Top Performer” nationwide in the observance of the 2025 Fire Prevention Month and Community Relations Week (COMRES 4).

The announcement was made during the BFP National Command Conference held at Summit Ridge, Tagaytay City, where regional offices were recognized for their outstanding efforts in fire safety advocacy and community engagement.

In addition to securing the top spot, BFP Region IX also received two special distinctions: “Most Numerous Activities” and “Most Unique Activities.” These awards highlight the region’s proactive and creative approach in promoting fire safety awareness across communities throughout March.

From regional-scale programs to grassroots-level initiatives led by local fire stations, Region IX demonstrated an all-out effort in fostering a culture of safety. Their campaigns went beyond visibility helping to build stronger public trust and deeper community ties across age groups, cultural backgrounds, and social classes.
