San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur — A new economic landmark has risen in San Miguel as the ₱50-million Commercial Center in Barangay Betinan was formally turned over to the local government on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Leading the turnover ceremony were former Governor Victor J. Yu, 2nd District Board Members Dang Mariano and John C. Regala, Mayor Ex D. Ocapan, Vice Mayor Wilma Ocapan, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan.

The project, which broke ground on June 23, 2023, was completed through the support of the Provincial Government and the initiatives of 2nd District Representative Victoria Yu. Local officials said the facility is expected to stimulate economic activity, generate livelihood, and serve as a hub for commerce not only for San Miguel but also for neighboring municipalities in the Second District.

Residents expressed gratitude to the provincial leadership for prioritizing the project, describing it as a long-awaited development that will strengthen business opportunities and expand public services in the area.
