₱350-M Farm Machinery and Seaweed Equipment Turned Over to Zamboanga del Sur Farmers

PhilMech has turned over ₱350 million worth of farm machinery and seaweed equipment to farmers in Zamboanga del Sur, with additional beneficiaries from Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay.

The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) has turned over ₱350 million worth of farm machinery and seaweed farm equipment to farmers’ associations and individual beneficiaries in Zamboanga del Sur during a ceremony held on September 17, 2025, at the Provincial Government Complex in Pagadian City.

The distribution included rice combined harvesters, tractors, 600 sets of seaweed farm implementers worth ₱14.2 million, and a seaweed warehouse with a solar dryer and buying station valued at ₱7.2 million for the local government of Dimataling. These projects fall under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Program and the Enhanced Philippine Seaweed Development Program (EPSDP).

The turnover ceremony was led by Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., Governor Divina Grace Yu, and PhilMech officials, with the attendance of Vice Governor Roseller Ariosa, provincial board members, and mayors from various municipalities.

In addition to beneficiaries from Zamboanga del Sur, farmer groups from Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay also received farm machinery support.
